PILGRIMAGE TO MAVERICKS

September 30, 2015

Home to monster off shore waves and world class surfing contests, there is a draw to visit Mavericks for surfers as well as beach wanderers.  The world’s best surfers come at a moment’s notice to surf Mavericks when the waves are right, but today it is enjoyed only by a flock of pelicans.  www.powerhiking.comMAVERICKS

BEACH TIME IN THE BAY AREA

September 8, 2015

Beach time in the Bay Area doesn’t happen ofter but September and October are traditionally the best weather months and it is gorgeous outside!  The sky is blue and the sun is shining brightly reflecting  the blue of the water.  It is warm but it is time to get outside and enjoy!  Take a walk.  Ride a bike. Sit by the beach at Crissy Field.  Sit on the beach at Ocean Beach and enjoy the view to the west as far as the eye can see.  There is no wind.  There is no fog.  Ride a ferry boat or go for a sail.  Hike to the top of Mount Tamalpais for amazing  vistas of the entire area.  Walk through The Presidio or picnic in Golden Gate Park.  Wander through the Ferry Building or visit the Aquarium By The Bay.  Or just sit on a bench with your feet up enjoying the beautiful day at the Palace of the Legion of Honor.
