TIBURON CELEBRATES!

May 31, 2014

ParadiseAk Row50MainStreetNestled on the edge of San Francisco Bay, the quaint and scenic town of Tiburon is celebrating its 50th birthday.  Originally a railroad town, the downtown waterfront is the old railroad yard and the Railroad Museum is open tonight.  The trains came down from the north and individual cars were loaded onto ferries to take them to San Francisco.  No longer functional, the railroad yard has been converted to a beautiful waterfront park.  This, as well as Main Street, is the location of tonight’s celebration.  There are bands playing to celebrate the 50th birthday and food trucks as well as games for the children.  Nestled on the edge of the bay, the waterfront is the perfect spot to view the celebritory fireworks. What a wonderful evening for the town of Tiburon – now 50 years old!

MULTNOMAH FALLS

May 27, 2014

In the beautiful Columbia River Gorge is the most popular visitor attraction in Oregon, Multnomah Falls.MULTNOMAH FALLS 1  Fed my underground springs, snow and rain, it is the nation’s second highest year round waterfall.  It is an amazing experience to see and hear the waterfall as the water plummets to the ground.  You can hike to the top of the falls – a distance of 1.1 miles – or take a shorter 1/4 mile hike to the Benson Bridge for a closer view.  Whichever you choose to do, Multnomah Falls is spectacular and not to be missed.  There is a lodge, visitor center and gift shop filled with unusual local crafts and gifts.  The Columbia River Gorge is one of the most beautiful scenic areas in the world and well worth a visit.

COIT TOWER REOPENS

May 14, 2014

Coit Tower, beautiful San Francisco icon, has reopened.  Perched atop  Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower has been under restoration for the past several months.  It was built to honor firefighters and to add beauty to the City and was dedicated in 1933.  The 1930s era murals on the main floor depict scenes of California and San Francisco of that era and were in a terrible state of disrepair.  In order not to lose such a valuable piece of the past, citizens and the Park and Rec Department worked together in restoration.  Finally finished and fabulous, Coit Tower is a must visit for all visitors and locals alike.
